"Battle of Andringa": violently separating Stellenbosch - 1940
Several Stellenbosch University students engaged in a fight with the town’s Coloured residents on the corner of Andringa and Plein Street in Stellenbosch. [i] According to reports, the crowd had gathered at a local café in order to purchase the late edition of the Cape Argus. However, the situation had rapidly escalated to the point of accusations being made against people jumping the queue. [ii] No sooner did violence break out when the Coloured residents were assaulted by the Stellenbosch University students. [iii] Later that evening the Coloured residents broke the window of a private student residence called Protea. [iv] These students called students from other residencies (Dagbreek and Wilgenhof) for assistance. [v] Violence ensued throughout the entire town as students of the residences attacked many Coloured persons

If cancelling 8-14 days before arrival, a 50% cancellation fee will be payable.
